Improving the outcomes for Californians with developmental disabilities
Supporting All to Thrive
The California Department of Developmental Services (the Department) is responsible for overseeing the coordination and delivery of services and supports to Californians with, or at risk for, developmental disabilities including cerebral palsy, intellectual disability, autism, epilepsy and related conditions.
The Department partners with 21 regional centers across the state to provide services that support individuals at each stage of life. Services are based on each person’s needs, choices, and cultural and language preferences.
With You at Every Stage of the Journey
- Early Childhood: Early Start services support infants and toddlers and their families
- Children & Youth: Education services, therapies, and assistance in transitioning into adulthood
- Adult Life: Services that support adults to find and keep jobs, live independently, and thrive in their community
- Seniors: Supports for elder adults to remain independent, active and connected to their community
Connect to Services: Regional Centers
Regional centers are local agencies that arrange services for Californians with developmental disabilities and their families.
Regional centers will:
- Assess for developmental delays or disabilities
- Determine service eligibility
- Assess your service needs and help you get those services
- Work with you to develop your Individual Program Plan (IPP) that lists all your service needs
- Contract with service providers and oversee services
- Follow state and federal policies
Find your local regional center with our Regional Center Look Up Tool and contact them today to see if you or a loved one may be eligible for services.
